Over 100 years after Amelia Earhart’s birth, she is back in the news. With the theories surrounding her mysterious disappearance, I was very curious to see her birth chart. In astrology, there needs to be a minimum of three repetitive themes to symbolize an event, situation or characteristic. In her chart, the themes happened more than three times, and it outlined a clear picture for me to see something big and life changing was predicted during her lifetime.

With the impressive cosmic energies in her birth chart, I calculated a few additional charts. The birth chart is the foundation and considered a symbolic blueprint for one’s lifetime. Progressions are taking the planets at birth and moving them forward one day for every year. Progressions are unique for every individual and represent internal and personal cycles of potential development. They are a predictive technique that can describe how an individual reacts to a transit. Transits are significant because they symbolically represent the timing of when the energies can become activated.

I’ve included my personal observations and opinions based on my interpretation of the planetary data.  It was an uncanny process that revealed a sneak peek into the cosmic alignments that some call fate and destiny. While I believe, we all have a choice in our fate, her karmic contribution was undoubtedly meant to be far-reaching, global, impactful and enduring.

Amelia Earhart was born on July 24, 1897, in Kansas at 11:30 pm. My initial observation was the bundle of planetary conjunctions in her chart. She has multiple planets conjoined in the signs of Gemini, Virgo, Leo, and Scorpio. Conjunctions signify intensity and action. They can create a chain effect when one is activated. She has the Moon, Pluto, Venus, and Neptune all conjunct in the sign of Gemini. When more than three planets are conjunct, it is called a stellium. Basically, a stellium is a powerhouse of energy. When an eclipse, transit or progression occurs to one of these planets, it will impact all of the planets and the houses they rule. Thus, all the cosmic energies would set off a chain reaction and a domino effect in multiple areas of her life.

Aviation, Astrology, Karma & Fate

Aviation is ruled by the planet Uranus and the sign of Aquarius. In her chart, Uranus is conjunct Saturn and the 8th house cusp. Both planets are retrograde in Scorpio ruled by Pluto. The 8th house is significant because it symbolizes death, matters, and topics related to death and the dead. Her 8th house cusp is 4 degrees Sagittarius, a critical degree in astrology! According to astrologer Celeste Teal, “the matters of the houses ruled by the planet in a critical degree are grave, serious and climatic.” The ruler of her 8th house is Jupiter. Jupiter and Mars are conjunct in Virgo square her Gemini stellium of planets. I am just getting started and there is so much interconnected cosmic energy unfolding in her chart!

She has no planets in Aquarius, but she has her North Node at 6 degrees Aquarius and her South Node at 6 degrees of Leo. This is called a nodal axis and symbolizes the spiritual and karmic influences evolving in one’s life. Both are very significant points, and they will stand out in 1937. The North Node represents the future and the experiences that can manifest in life to help one develop and achieve their fate. The wow factor is that her North Node is in the 10th house of fame, status, and public visibility. According to Celeste Teal’s book, Lunar Nodes (2008), a North Node placement here denotes “opportunities for success…and gives one a strong sense of purpose and the ability to rise to prominence in life.” A few keywords associated with Aquarius include aviation, inventions, innovation, independence, and freedom. It describes an individualistic, pioneering spirit that is unlikely to conform to society’s predetermined standards. They have a deep desire to express their unique individuality. The ruler of Aquarius is Uranus in Scorpio. This planet is highlighted in many ways throughout her chart. Yet, as the ruler of the North Node, it acts as a compass that directs her soul’s mission and purpose in life.

The South Node is also a significant point in a chart. It symbolizes the gifts and talents we are born with. It is the skills and traits we are most familiar with and can represent sacrifices. In Amelia Earhart’s chart, it is in-between her Sun and Mercury conjunction in Leo. Celeste Teal states in her book, Lunar Nodes (2008), “the individual’s mission requires making a sacrifice. It may be that the sacrifice is to bring attention to some matter that would be a considerable contribution to the world.” She continues to say, “a drain of physical vitality, premature death, or a decrease of life longevity is possible.” With the South Node conjunct Mercury, Teal describes someone whose “ideas can be out of sync with current trends.” I found reading it almost haunting in the circumstances of Amelia Earhart’s chart.

The Black Hole, Critical Degrees & Gemini Stellium

Long-distance travel is always related to the 9th house. Her 9th house is located at another significant point known as the Galactic Center (27 degrees Sagittarius). This is a powerful point that is located at the Center of the Milky Way in the Black Hole. Symbolically, it is considered a conduit for the Universal and Divine Consciousness. It instills a deep inner calling. While she has no planets at the Galactic Center, her 9th house cusp is located in that exact degree. This is very important to look at when it will get activated by transits, progressions, and eclipses. Also, her Arabic Part of Water Journey is at 24 Sagittarius, and it too would be activated at the same time!

In general, Sagittarius and Jupiter are the rulers of long-distance travel. In her chart, this theme is re-emphasized by her 9th house cusp, the inner calling of the Galactic Center, Sagittarius, Jupiter, and an Arabic Part! Her Jupiter is conjunct Mars in Virgo and makes a difficult aspect to her Gemini stellium. Once again, a trend of repetitive themes continues to evolve. This chain of planetary connections is very significant because it all relates to a chain reaction of events. There are hundreds of asteroids. I was most interested in number 1566, known as Icarus. In Greek Mythology, Icarus is the story of the boy who flew to close to the Sun and drowned in the ocean. In Amelia Earhart’s birth chart, 1566 is located at 3 degrees of Pisces. The ruler of Pisces is Neptune, the Lord of the Oceans. Furthermore, on the date of her disappearance, the asteroid had progressed to 27 degrees Sagittarius… Wow! It was conjoined to the Galactic Center, her 9th house cusp, and her Arabic Part of Water Journey.

Amelia Earhart was born with a Taurus rising sign. The Rising sign, also known as the ascendant, represents one’s physical body. Venus rules Taurus. Her Venus is at 17 degrees Gemini, and it is in a critical degree! A 3rd critical point is being emphasized in her chart! What are the odds? Since Venus is her chart ruler and signifies her physical body the above quotation of having a “grave, serious and climatic” event relating to her person is reiterated. The ruler of Gemini is Mercury. Mercury is in Leo conjunct her Sun and South Node. Mercury rules communications and the media.

Pluto is another planet in her Gemini stellium. It rules the sign of Scorpio, and both her Uranus and Saturn. Again, these two planets are conjunct her 8th house at the critical degree. Both Saturn and Uranus make a complementary aspect to her 10th house of status, fame, career, and public visibility. In fact, her Saturn rules her 10th house! Uranus is at 25 Scorpio retrograde and represents sudden events, accidents, impulsiveness, freedom, rash decisions, pioneers, independence, inventions, and sudden ideas. Saturn brings a dose of reality, practicality and caution to her persona.

The Moon is the last planet in her Gemini stellium. It is conjunct the Fixed Star Aldebaran at 9 Gemini. This Star combined with aspects to the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, and 8th house ruler can indicate a violent death. All these points were activated on the date of her disappearance. Finally, Neptune rules the ocean, water, illusion, and confusion. Her 12th house of secrets, mysteries, subconscious thoughts, private and hidden matters is in Pisces.

Honestly, I got overwhelmed with all of the points, planets, houses, and symbolism in just her natal chart! I still have the transits, progressions, and eclipses to include for 1937.
