As the holiday weekend arrives, we are greeted with a Lunar Eclipse at 13 Capricorn. The eclipse occurs on the tail end of two eclipses, 5 retrogrades, a powerful Jupiter/Pluto conjunction, and Mars in Aries until 2021. As we celebrate Independence Day, what celestial symbolism, shifts, changes, and themes resonate within us? What themes and trends have been emerging in your personal life leading up to the eclipse?

Lunar Eclipses are a sign of completion, endings, and some chapters close, while new ones await to be written. Historically, the eclipses and their symbolism was shared with royalty or those in high positions. It wasn’t shared with the public at large. Yet, today there is an interconnection with people, books, and technology that the symbolism can be shared. Eclipses and their meaning have been studied as far back as the 4th Century. Fast forward to the present, and what cosmic dust is being stirred up? What messages are the cosmos communicating? What synchronicities and mystical magic lies ahead?

Father Time – Lord of the Eclipse

Saturn is both the ruler and Lord of the Eclipse, and its symbolism carries significant weight in how the cosmic energies unfold. Saturn in Capricorn is associated with one’s ambitions, goals, and career. It can manifest as an inner drive to climb to the top, be the leader, or step into a new personal or professional area. The focus will be on bringing stability and taking the necessary steps to achieve your dream. The key to this energy is time is to go step by step and follow the rules. This is not a fast-moving influence fly by the seat of your pants. It signifies building the foundation to create sustainable growth. By doing the work and taking on the responsibilities, Saturn brings success- eventually.

As an earth sign, it emphasizes practical ways to organize, manage, accumulate financial or material resources. Capricorn symbolizes conservative, traditional, and old-fashioned values. With Saturn in Capricorn, it brings a need to focus on your long-term goals.

Lord of Karma

For now, Saturn is retrograde, casting a shadow, and putting a pause button on any forward momentum. With the eclipse ruler in retrograde, it highlights a need to redo, review, or regroup the plans you made to move ahead. The emphasis is on a conservative approach to long term goals versus guns blazing. Mars is making a challenging aspect to the eclipse, and it can play out with an impulsive, rash, spur of the moment decisions or actions. Mars in Aries is in its element and bursting with energy to move, act, jump, leap, or dive into whatever they set have their mind on. Yet, with this energy, there can be such a headstrong push to get ahead, that they bypass the planning and sustainability that Capricorn is known for.

Mars in Aries can serve us all by bringing more courage and enthusiasm; yet, the reckless and full-throttle attitude can backfire since Saturn requires a methodological approach. If you feel a need to bypass, rush, sidestep, or jump past any of the steps, then be aware it has the potential to unravel when Saturn is direct. The opportunities with this energy circle around status, ambition, and applying the Capricorn traits of hard work and dedication. Even utilizing a conservative approach with finances can generate long-term possibilities.

FIXED STAR – SIRIUS

A Lunar Eclipse is a powerful Full Moon where the Sun and Moon are in opposition. As the eclipse occurs both luminaries are in opposing critical degrees. In the 360 degrees of the zodiac, only 9 fall into this category. Thus, the eclipse energies are opening the cosmic door, paving the way, and setting the stage for something big to unfold.

In addition, the eclipse is directly opposing the Dog Star, Sirius at 14 Cancer. Throughout history, Sirius has been viewed as a positive symbol or omen that when connected to an individuals chart with good aspects can bring fame, honor, and riches. Yet, it also gives fame and honor beyond the grave. Frida Kahlo is a great example of a trailblazer with massive creative talents! She was born with her Sun conjunct the fixed star. For many, it is considered auspicious (fortunate), and it can signify tremendous creative talents, fame, wealth, and honor.

Yet, when it is aligned in an opposing manner to the eclipse some of the challenging manifestations can also emerge. Sirius is associated with the hottest part of the year. According to Homer, the downside of Sirius is that it brings fevers, plagues, and death. The Dog Star signified the summer solstice and brought with it the dog days of summer.

Mercury Retrograde

During the eclipse, Mercury was connecting to the eclipse. While Mercury was also retrograde, hinting that we do not have all of the data or information. Since Mercury rules all forms of think, communications, and learning, there are some components that are just kinda hidden for the time being. For some, it can resonate with having to get multiple opinions versus just a second opinion. There might be more mishaps, delays, etc., yet the good news is that as Mercury stations direct, the information will finally begin to be revealed. Expect less hassle with trying to get information or answers.

CREATIVITY & ILLUSIONS

As Neptune connects to the eclipse energies it infuses inspiration and creativity. Neptune brings heightened awareness, intuition, sensitivity, and imagination is usually expressed through the arts. Yet, nebulous circumstances can also play out through Neptune too.

The shady side of Neptune can emerge through lies, deception, or bending the truth. It can bring paranoia, anxiety, addictions, and extramarital affairs. Neptune is also associated with escapism and the way an individual checks out from reality. Typically, with hard aspects, there can be a period in one’s life where addiction issues pop up, or they resort to alcohol, drug, and medication to dull the physical or emotional pain. Take the high road and do a deep dive into something that you are passionate about that touches on your creative or inspirational side.

Finally, Neptune is the God of the Oceans. All forms of water are highlighted as either a safe haven for healing, or they can create dangerous circumstances.

Sabian Symbol

“An ancient bas-relief carved in granite remains a witness to a long-forgotten culture”

This Symbol shows learning from the past, seeing the beauty and meaning inherent in ancient civilizations, their monuments and cultures. Some things never fade; they stand as reminders of ancient eras, bringing messages to us. Information and revelations may be found in these reminders (the “Remains”) about the stability and longevity of the foundation of your society, or possibly some other society, distant in time or space. You’ll find satisfaction in things that are not so much superficial display, but those things that represent the longevity and stability of the foundation or backdrop of your society. The trick is not to get stuck in the past or become unchangeable or unbendable. Anonymous immortality. Things carved in stone or concrete. Permanent records. Laws. Inscriptions and writings. Museum pieces. Relics. History and who writes it. Clues from the past.

The Caution: Old and outworn things. Unchanging and unbending minds. Being intense. Stubborn. Feeling stuck, like no growth is possible. Obsession with the past. Frigidity.

COSMIC DATES

The life of an eclipse is incredibly significant when it occurs on or in aspect to an individual’s natal chart. It highlights the opportunities or changes ahead. It can shine a light on where transformation, shifts, or enlightenment can occur. Mark the following dates to see what begins to occur or unfold in your life. The dates below are the exact connection to the energies of the eclipse. It can manifest 4-5 days prior or after.

Mark your calendar for July 22 -23. I would even circle in red the five days prior. Mars is hot, fiery, action-oriented, and whatever occurs will happen fast. Mars in Aries jumps the gun and goes blazing ahead without forethought. Mars was in a difficult aspect with the eclipse earlier this month, and this is the date when it will connect to the eclipse energies. When the eclipse occurred, the aspects were not exact. Mars had just entered into Aries and was gaining momentum. Now, it will make a challenging aspect to the eclipse and it will be an exact aspect. Thus, it will bring significant shifts, change, events, action, and challenging circumstances. Please read more about what I wrote about Mars in Aries.

While it has significant positives, there is always a downside and an evolutionary cycle. In addition, Mars runs hot and represents passion, libido, inflammation, or fevers. While some may feel the need for speed and race cars or do daredevil activities, be aware of the potential of being impulsive, forceful, or making rash decisions that can lead to danger or accidents. Mars in Aries has a reservoir of courage to dive in and take the fast track. Just be cautious to not sidestep or bypass the strategic planning. Mars energies give courage, confidence; yet, it walks a thin line with arrogance and ego. Keep it real and dive into the goals you want to accomplish with the Aries enthusiasm.

On July 26th, Mercury the symbolic mythical messenger of the gods connects to the energies of the eclipse. Mercury will be in the eclipse degree, a critical degree, and with the Fixed Star Sirius. Thus, the symbolism of Sirius will hover over this time. Whatever information arrives, it has the potential to be bigger than you imagined.
